Located at the intersection of Ohio State Route 550 and Ohio State Route 329 in Ames Township. Amesville is bounded on 3 sides by Federal Creek, with the creek flowing towards Amesville from the west by northwest and thence flowing past the town in south by southeasterly arc. Amesville is home to the famed Coonskin Library, whose volumes were originally financed by the sale of pelts.
