امانوئل والرستین

امانوئل والِرستین (به انگلیسی: Immanuel Wallerstein) (زادهٔ ۲۸ سپتامبر ۱۹۳۰ در شهر نیویورک - درگذشتهٔ ۳۱ اوت ۲۰۱۹)، جامعه‌شناس و متفکر چپ‌گرای آمریکایی و از بزرگ‌ترین متفکران سوسیالیست قرن ۲۱ بود.[1]

زندگی‌نامه

او متولد شهر نیویورک بود و تمام تحصیلات خود را در دانشگاه کلمبیا طی کرد. کتاب معروف او نظریه نظام جهانی است که به نه زبان زنده برگردانده شده‌است . او نقش مهمی برای دولت‌ها قایل نیست و مبارزه طبقاتی را در اندیشه‌هایش نادیده می‌گیرد.[2] او در اسفند سال ۱۳۹۲ به ایران آمد و در دانشگاه تهران سخنرانی کرد.[3]

سفر به ایران

ایمانوئل والرشتاین در تاریخ ۱۰ اسفند ۱۳۹۲ به دعوت انجمن جامعه‌شناسی ایران و همچنین انجمن ایرانی مطالعات فرهنگی و ارتباطات، برای یک سفر یک هفته‌ای به ایران آمد. وی سخنرانی‌هایی در دانشگاه‌های تهران و شیراز داشت.[4][5]
