جمعیت یهودی در کشورها

جمعیت یهودیان در جهان، تا ابتدای سال ۲۰۱۳ حدود ۱۴ میلیون نفر یعنی ۰/۲درصد از جمعیت جهان تخمین زده می‌شود.[1][2] در بسیاری از کشورها ازجمله ایران، اقلیت یهودی وجود دارد اما بزرگ‌ترین جمعیت یهودی در اسرائیل و ایالات متحده آمریکا ساکن می‌باشند.[2] که اسرائیل با بیش‌از ۶ میلیون یهودی، تنها کشور با اکثریت یهودی و دولتی صراحتاً یهودی است و این درحالیست که جمعیت یهودی ساکن در آمریکا نیز به‌همین تعداد نزدیک است.[3]

در سال ۱۹۳۹، جمعیت هسته یهودی به اوج خود یعنی ۱۷ میلیون (۰/۸ درصد جمعیت جهان) رسیده‌بود که پس‌از هولوکاست در سال ۱۹۴۵ به ۱۱ میلیون نفر کاهش یافت.[4]

Once the epicenter of the diaspora with millions of Jews, the population was decimated by the Holocaust and further subdued by communism; estimating current numbers has been difficult. DellaPergola presents conservative estimates of just ۳٬۲۰۰(core) and ۷٬۵۰۰ (enlarged) because census numbers have been low. There is reason to suspect the number is higher with multiple sources suggesting a population in the range of ۲۰٬۰۰۰ to ۲۵٬۰۰۰.[18][19] One report notes that estimates have ranged anywhere from ۱۰٬۰۰۰ to ۱۰۰٬۰۰۰.[20]
